At the close of counting on Friday 2 May 2025, Sean Andrew Smith was declared the elected councillor for Cornwall (St Cleer & Menheniot division). The Chair of Councillors of Menheniot congratulate Cllr Smith on his election and wish him well in the future.

The annual meeting of the council takes place next month - it's an important meeting where the Chair for 2025/26 will be elected. Everyone is welcome attend. Agenda and reports for this meeting are published on the 'Meetings' section of this website. Everyone welcome.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING 19 May 6.45pm Menheniot Parish Hall, East Road

The Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr Adrian Cole invites all residents to attend his annual meeting on 19 May 2025 at 6.45pm at the Parish Hall on East Road. Cllr Cole will present his review and report for the last year, and you will have the opportunity to learn more about the councils work and plans for the next year. The Chair's written report will be published here at the same time.

Civility & Respect

Throughout the local government sector, there are growing concerns about the impact bullying, harassment, and intimidation are having on local councils, councillors, clerks, council staff and the resulting effectiveness of local councils.


Councillors in Menheniot have signed up to a Civility & Respect Pledge that sets out what they regard as acceptable behaviour between themselves and their residents.


If you have any concerns about the behaviour of councillors or council staff towards you or people you know, report this to the Clerk's Office in confidence. If your complaint is about the Clerk, please write to the Chair of the parish council. You can find their contact details on the 'Parish Council' tab at the top of this page.

New Bus Timetable 1 Sep 2024

A new timetable for the Saltash Red Bus service to Liskeard starts on 1 September. The 452 (Friday service) is unchanged, leaving Menheniot church at 9.29am. The 451 (Wednesday service) leaves Merrymeet at 9.23am (not 9am as previously). Full timetable below. Copies are posted up in the shelters at Menheniot, Merrymeet and Bethany.

Safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults

This council takes seriously its responsibility under the current legislation to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults, and to work together with other agencies to ensure that there are adequate arrangements within our organisation to identify and support those who are suffering harm. Where someone is suffering significant harm, or is likely to do so, action will be taken to protect that person.

How the parish council spends your money 2025/2026

At their public meeting on 21 November 2024, councillors voted to approve the parish council budget for 2025/2026 and to set a precept (local council tax) that will be charged out to residents in the coming year. This note explains what the council’s budget for next year is and sets out how it manages residents’ tax receipts.

The precept for 2025/2026 has been agreed at £29,825. This is an increase of £2,993.00 or 11%. The Band D equivalent of £43.03pa (current year £40.68) which is an increase of £2.35pa or 5.8%.

Blooming Marvellous Menheniot | We got GOLD!

At the awards ceremony for South West in Bloom held on 8 October in Bath, Blooming Marvellous Menheniot did blooming perfect! Gold Award AND the Pennant Cup for best village in the south west. You can see the certificate and cups in Menheniot Old School in a special display case. Many thanks to Keith Goldsmith and everyone who dug and planted to make this happen!
