New path for Trelawny Gardens

The parish council is replacing its pathways at a community garden on Trelawny Road, Menheniot and is inviting contractors
to bid for the work.
 
Full details of the bidding process including a specification and map of the garden area are available to download here. The deadline for return of your bid is 6 August 2025.

Blooming Marvellous Menheniot | The waiting begins!

On Thursday 10 July, judges from South West in Bloom came to visit the parish to meet residents and scrutinise and sniff the mass of flower displays across the parish to see if everyone deserves to win the GOLD award they did in 2024. Now - the countdown to the Awards Presentation on October 8th in Torquay begins. Fingers crossed everyone!

At their public meeting on 17 July 2025, councillors unanimously voted to co-opt Jerry Tucker back onto the parish council. All councilors welcome Jerry back and wish him well in his new role.

Civility & Respect

Throughout the local government sector, there are growing concerns about the impact bullying, harassment, and intimidation are having on local councils, councillors, clerks, council staff and the resulting effectiveness of local councils.


Councillors in Menheniot have signed up to a Civility & Respect Pledge that sets out what they regard as acceptable behaviour between themselves and their residents.


If you have any concerns about the behaviour of councillors or council staff towards you or people you know, report this to the Clerk's Office in confidence. If your complaint is about the Clerk, please write to the Chair of the parish council. You can find their contact details on the 'Parish Council' tab at the top of this page.

Safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults

This council takes seriously its responsibility under the current legislation to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults, and to work together with other agencies to ensure that there are adequate arrangements within our organisation to identify and support those who are suffering harm. Where someone is suffering significant harm, or is likely to do so, action will be taken to protect that person.

How the parish council spends your money 2025/2026

At their public meeting on 21 November 2024, councillors voted to approve the parish council budget for 2025/2026 and to set a precept (local council tax) that will be charged out to residents in the coming year. This note explains what the council’s budget for next year is and sets out how it manages residents’ tax receipts.

The precept for 2025/2026 has been agreed at £29,825. This is an increase of £2,993.00 or 11%. The Band D equivalent of £43.03pa (current year £40.68) which is an increase of £2.35pa or 5.8%.
